Hi. I’m Lauri Ellis. I’m from Enosburg Falls and own Mountain Spirit Herbals. I want to share a recent experience I had with NMC.

In May 2019, I was admitted to Northwestern Medical Center in the Surgical Services department to have a left flank lipoma excision. The people that I’m naming here—Dr. Anna M. Royer—surgeon, Dr. Calhoun & Nicole Stone—anesthesia, Diane Greenfield—surgeons assistant, Janelle (sorry I didn’t get your last name) & Diane Poulin—Pre-Op nurses, Sarah Mercy—OR nurse, and Debbie (sorry didn’t get your last name)—scrub nurse (and if there is anyone that I may have forgotten, please forgive my oversight; as you were also much appreciated) were the ones that took care of me during the following hours of my procedure and recovery. I am writing this with my utmost gratitude to each and every one of you for answering all of my questions, easing my fears, explaining what was going to happen to me before, during, and after the procedure, asking for my thoughts and input, keeping me warm, hydrated, holding my hand, soothing and laughing with me.

I have had surgeries in other hospitals but I have NEVER felt so nurtured and cared for with kindness, compassion, and respect as I did with those of you who attended to me during my stay at Northwestern Medical Center!
