NMC’s leadership and Northwestern Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Center are working hard to grow the team. We were excited to welcome a new surgeon, Dr. Nathan Mauser, this fall and look forward to Dr. Andrew Myrtue joining us in the spring. In addition, we recently brought on a temporary surgeon—the talented Dr. Thomas Anderson. In the past year, the practice did experience some turn-over in permanent staff and our new hires are bringing staffing levels back to our full staff.
You may have recently experienced longer-than-expected wait times in our Ortho practice as we worked through the transition to our new Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
The new EMR brings us to a single, unified record easily accessible to all providers which will improve continuity of patient care. This is a key strategic project for us, and we continue the work of integrating the new system and fully optimize the record. To give you a sense of the scope of the project, more than 14 million documents needed to be transitioned to the new system! During the transition, it was necessary for us to decrease the number of patients we saw per day. As we make progress, our volumes are returning to normal levels.
We realize the importance of having quick access to high-quality orthopaedic care. NMC is focused on recruiting talented providers and optimizing our Electronic Medical Record for even greater efficiency, which will ultimately lead to smoother workflows and timeliness.
